THERE ARE SOME VERY GOOD REASONS FOR THIS DIFFERENCE.
WE HELP APPRENTICES SUCCEED
Each local has an apprenticeship council to manage apprentices, working with each one to ensure skills training is going well. The council team members are available to help if questions or challenges come up.
Apprentices in the IBEW never have to worry about being officially registered, because the council makes it happen. You’re also given the opportunity to complete your apprenticeship in a timely manner.
After each term of your training is completed, you’ll automatically get the raise you’re entitled to— no need to ask.
STARTING YOUR CAREER RIGHT
Apprentices are provided with an initial orientation program and safety training. Our educators work out of our training facilities to provide classes designed specifically for apprentices. When you’re due for a semester at trade school, you can take advanced courses to help you get a leg up on the material and ace your program.
Some locals pay your tuition and/or books, or provide bursaries once you’ve successfully completed a level. Check with your local to learn the specifics.
We also offer additional courses to help you get ready for your certificate of qualification exam.

NEXTGEN
We encourage our apprentices to join their local NextGen group to connect with other IBEW apprentices. NextGen members support each other through the learning process, give back to the community, and have an incredible amount of fun!
