Hear how IBEW electricians and line technicians have helped ECAO contractors grow:

OUR VALUE ADD:

Benefits for Employers

An IBEW workforce provides employers with a number of great advantages.

Need more workers? No problem!

You can arrange for more workers and take on larger, more lucrative contracts and grow your business. Adding to your qualified workforce is a click away.

No Strikes – No Lockouts

The IBEW hasn’t had a strike in the industrial, commercial, and institutional (ICI) sector since our joint proposal process took effect in 1990.

Here’s how the Joint Proposal process works in a nutshell: Every three years, before the expiry of existing contracts, we negotiate new contracts with our employers. Work continues on your job sites the whole time without interruption.

The Joint Proposal process has been working extremely well for almost thirty years. It ensures stability, predictability, and a seamless flow of revenue for contractors.

Access to Additional Skills Training for Your Team

We offer our members evening and weekend courses led by qualified instructors in our dedicated training facilities. Your electricians will be back on your job site on Monday with the ability to do more— avoiding costly on-the-job training.

Training is free for our members, and we actively encourage members to grow their skills.

We happily work with contractors to customize training to cover skills your workers will use immediately.

Retain the Ability to Manage Your Workforce

We understand that contractors want to keep the ability to manage their team. As a signatory contractor you maintain that right.

Clause 400 Right to Manage:
Subject to the terms of this Agreement, the Union acknowledges the right of the individual Contractor to manage the business in which he/she is engaged and to direct the working forces, to discharge or discipline Employees for just cause.

Greater Opportunities through the Electrical Contractors Association of Ontario (ECAO)

As an IBEW contractor, you’ll be entitled to join the Electrical Contractors Association of Ontario (ECAO).

Through the ECAO, you’ll be able to access more contracts in the ICI as well as other sectors.

The ECAO also gives you access to peer groups, membership in allied associations, and lobbying power at the municipal, provincial, and federal level. It all adds up to more growth opportunities for your company.
